Noun Project launched in 2011 to build a global visual language that unites the world — a language that allows quick and easy communication no matter who you are or where you are. Since then, our community of creators has contributed nearly 3 million icons that are used and loved by millions of people.

As a leader in visual communication, we believe that visual language has the power to shape, reinforce and change perceptions. We’ve built an inclusive online community where creators can express themselves, find inspiration, and support each other’s growth through conscientious design.

We believe broad perspectives are fundamental to creating the most unique and relevant collection of the world’s visual language, and that diverse experiences are the key to innovation, collaboration, and awareness of the globalized context we live in. The following Community Guidelines are designed to help you understand what it means to be a member of the Noun Project Creator Community:

We support variety and creativity.
As a platform offering one of the most extensive and diverse collections of icons in the world, Noun Project is a place for Creators to express themselves. From subject matter to style, variety and creativity are at the heart of what we do.

We celebrate diversity and original expression.
Our global community of creatives contributes a wide array of diverse perspectives. We encourage our vibrant and growing community to share and showcase their unique points of view through their work.

Our community supports each other.
This community thrives because of the creativity of its global contributors and a commitment by our users to provide proper attribution and/or compensation for creative work. We value honesty and integrity, and encourage all members of our community to engage in ethical practices.

Noun Project is a hate-free zone.
Noun Project is a place for everyone. Any content that demeans a group or individual based on their race, ethnicity, nationality, religious beliefs, political affiliation, gender, sexual orientation, family status, age, disability or disease is not permitted. Any content that promotes hatred or harm toward oneself or others is strictly prohibited.

We have a zero tolerance policy for plagiarism and theft.
There is no place on our platform for misrepresentation or plagiarism of any kind. Creating fake or multiple profiles, misusing another person’s PayPal account, or impersonating someone else’s identity will not be tolerated. Plagiarism, including submission of material that is fully or partially stolen, copied, vectorized from other images or sources, closely derivative or marginally altered will not be tolerated and will result in a ban from this community.

Our commitment to the community.
