Chengdu is the capital city of the Sichuan province in China. Sichuan is a province famous for its mouth numbing, but flavorful Sichuan peppercorns. Chengdu is known for being fairly laid back, and during the week of Chinese New Year that rang even more true as people left the city to spend the holiday with their extended families. Red lanterns hung from trees and lamp posts to usher in the Year of the Pig.
On the way to Chengdu was a short layover in a large airport in Shenzhen with lots of signage, and after a lengthy stay in Chengdu, we popped over to Mount Emei and visited a Buddhist temple.
